• PhD in Chemistry in a field related to Physical Chemistry; • Proof of excellence in teaching at undergraduate level; • Experience in undergraduate teaching at university level (Senior Lecturer at least 2 – 3 years and Lecturer 1 – 2 years); • Postdoctoral research experience (preferably a minimum of 1 – 2 years); • Excellent spoken and written language proficiency (preferably in both Afrikaans and English); • Willingness to learn Afrikaans within an reasonable period of time (if a candidate is not proficient in Afrikaans); • A good research record, as evidenced by high-quality publications in leading journals (Senior Lecturer); • Proven ability to supervise research students (Senior Lecturer); • Ability to teach effectively at all undergraduate levels (Senior Lecturer); • Ability to lead and supervise postgraduate MSc and PhD research students (Senior Lecturers).
Recommendations: • Willingness to start an independent externally funded research programme or to join an existing research effort within the departmental research focus areas.
